When you shoot in JPEG mode, the computer inside your camera has to do a lot of things. It reads the RAW data off the image sensor. It converts it into a color image, then it applies your White Balance Settings, sharpens your image, and finally compresses it into a JPEG file. Along the way, it also possibly performs some image editing operations, changes to saturation, contrast. Picture Styles are collections of image editing operations that can be applied to JPEG images when you shoot. Your camera comes with a selection of Picture Styles that are tailored towards specific subject matter. For example, the Portrait Picture Style will apply Color Corrections, and Contrast Adjustments that will make skin tones look better. If you're shooting RAW, Picture Styles have no effect on your image, because no image processing takes place on RAW files inside the camera. Original Picture Styles can be created by individually adjusting colors. A good tip for comparing the Picture Style settings is to shoot Raw and upload the Raw shots into Canon's Digital Photo Professional bundled software, where you can play with the settings to. ChasWG wrote in post #13611882 Special Note: Installing on 600D / T2i “For 600D it is slightly different. I loaded the picture style onto the camera using canon utility while in the P (or M) setting (in movie setting it wont let you load them). Re: Canon 600D picture style!!
